New art exhibition at Stracathro café
The art gallery in The Pavilion @ Stracathro café is hosting a new art exhibition.
The exhibition, running over the next two months, features the work of Arbroath artist Frank McDiarmid. Originally from Glasgow, Frank trained as a cartoonist and illustrator with DC Thomson and drew the famous Roger the Dodger character in the Beano for many years.
After developing his fine art skills, Frank had his own art gallery in Arbroath until 2000 when he started to work from home. Frank now runs art classes in Montrose and still does caricatures at events and for special birthdays.
The exhibitions at the café, which is in the grounds of Stracathro Hospital, are changed around every eight weeks and local artists are invited to display their work. The café is open Monday to Friday from 8.30am until 3.30pm.
The majority of the art on display at the gallery is for sale, with each participating artist donating 20% commission of sales to Stracathro Hospital. All money raised is used to enhance the environment for patients and visitors.
