New service for hearing aid users in Perth & Kinross
The NHS volunteer run service which helps hearing aid users has two new drop-in sessions in Perth & Kinross.
The free drop-in re-tubing clinic and replacement battery insertion service is now being delivered in Pitlochry and Aberfeldy, in addition to Perth, Blairgowrie, Auchterarder, Crieff and Kinross.
The new services will be available at Pitlochry Community Hospital on the first Tuesday of every month and at Aberfeldy Library on the first Friday of the month. These drop-in clinics are part of a Tayside-wide service which is delivered by specially trained NHS Hearing Aid Support volunteers.
The volunteers have been trained by NHS Tayside’s Audiology Service and they can renew the tubing in ear moulds and replace batteries for NHS hearing aid users. Unfortunately volunteers are unable to re-tube open fit aids which have the thin wire with the tip in ear.
It is important that hearing aid users bring along their yellow book as this is required to receive new batteries.
Samantha Batty, Head of Service NHS Tayside Audiology and Balance Service, said, “We are very pleased that we have dedicated volunteers who have taken on this role with the support from the NHS Tayside’s audiology team.
“Hearing aid users have found it helpful that we have drop-in clinics at various locations across the county, and we are pleased that we can now also offer this service in Aberfeldy and Pitlochry.”
Perth & Kinross drop-in clinics for the re-tubing of mould type hearing aids and replacement battery service are being held at:
Aberfeldy Library, first Friday of every month, 10am-noon
