Marathon sports night for Tayside Children’s Hospital

A local youth development group from Menzieshill Community Centre held a 12-hour sports marathon and raised £575 for the Paediatric Outpatient Department at Ninewells Hospital.

One of the youngsters, Calle Paton, was the driving force behind the idea to hold an all-night sports event. The event ran for 12 hours from 9pm until 9am with everyone getting involved playing football, basketball and golf putting. A spin bike was also kept running by the group of enthusiastic volunteers throughout the night, pedalling their way to 440km in total.

Kim Mollison, senior charge nurse, said, “We appreciate the effort that went into raising this money and it will be used to set up a teenager’s room in the paediatric outpatient department complete with new furniture and artist-decorated walls.”
