Friends of Dundee woman, Judith Lindsay organised a fundraising walk raising an amazing £3060 as a thank you to the major trauma ward and intensive care unit at Ninewells Hospital for saving Judith’s life.

Following a road traffic collision in December 2018, Judith Lindsay suffered serious injuries and spent two months in the major trauma ward and the intensive care unit at Ninewells Hospital.

Judith said, “These teams are amazing, dedicated and professional staff who are a credit to NHS Tayside. It was a privilege to present the cheque to them. The staff provided me with five star care and were very supportive to my family.

“Three of my childhood friends, Denise Doig, Sheelagh Stokoe and Nikki Dolderer arranged a sponsored walk as a way to raise funds for both wards. The target was £500 and an incredible £3060 was donated.

“Both wards saved my life because of their excellent care. It has allowed me to carry on my life and I’m so grateful to the staff that I can make new memories with my family and friends.”

Upon receiving the donation, Debbie Kelly, charge nurse at the major trauma ward, said, “We are very grateful to receive this donation, which we will use to improve patients’ stay and journey.

“Judith was one of our first patients following the opening of the major trauma ward and it is so inspiring to us all to see how well she has recovered following her injuries. She has shown such determination and strength. To see her now enjoying her life surrounded by her family and friends is what we hope for with all our patients.”
