NHS Tayside takes part in Perth Pride

NHS Tayside is delighted to be supporting the first ever Perthshire Pride Parade, which takes place on Saturday, 10 August.

As the first Pride event in Perth kicks off, NHS Tayside invites the public to come along and march under their banner in celebration and support of the LGBTQ+ community in Tayside.

The parade will start at noon from South Inch Car Park, continue down Tay Street and end at the Pride Village on Mill Street. The parade is expecting to finish no later than 1pm. There will be lots of information stalls, fun acts and entertainment at the Pride Village and an after party on the bank from 8pm.

Dr Sarah Allstaff, NHS Tayside consultant in sexual health, said, “NHS Tayside is committed to delivering quality, person-centred, safe and effective services to all our patients. We are also equally committed to being an inclusive and fair workplace for all of our staff. Please join us as allies, friends and family as we march in solidarity and stand shoulder to shoulder with the wider LGBTQ+ community in Tayside.

“You don’t have to be LGBTQ to be part of the LGBTQ+ community. Allies are an important part of the community and we want to welcome everyone who believes in equal rights for all to join us as allies at Pride.”

NHS Tayside Head of Corporate Equalities Santosh Chima said, “NHS Tayside is committed to supporting the rights of all staff and patients and to help celebrate LGBTQ+ achievements, legal rights, social and self acceptance and pride.

“NHS Scotland works with Stonewall to increase our awareness and support to improve the treatment of LGBTQ+ staff and patients. NHS staff are encouraged and have opportunities to contribute both personally and professionally to LGBTQ+ inclusion within the workplace.”

Staff from across NHS Tayside are teaming up to take part in the parade and will be meeting at the South Inch Car Park at 11.30am with the NHS Tayside rainbow flag and banner. Everyone is welcome to join the NHS Tayside team.
