Caravan rally raises money for breast screening
The Scottish division (Tayside and Fife) of the Caravan Club donated £1520 to the breast screening unit at Ninewells Hospital.
Every year the caravan club pick a charity to raise money for and this year they chose the breast screening unit.
Although there are social events throughout the year, Iain and Isobel Beddows from Inverkeilor, helped organise a special fundraiser in Milnathort with a silent auction. Local caravan dealers Perthshire Caravans and Top Road Tourers donated items for the auction. Members of the caravan club and friends of the couple also donated items.
Iain said, “Members of the club come together throughout the year and have a great time. This year we chose the breast screening unit as our chosen charity. This is very close to our hearts as Isobel was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.”
Isobel said, “The staff at the unit are brilliant. They are kind, they support you and they have a great attitude. Everyone does a great job. I can’t thank them enough. Also I want to say a big thank you to everyone who helped with the fundraiser and donated items for the silent auction.”
Accepting the donation, senior Macmillan breast care nurse specialist Alison Mitchell said, “On behalf of the team, I would like to thank Isobel, Iain and the Scottish Caravan Club - Fife and Tayside for all the time and hard work that went into raising this very generous amount of money. Thank you again, it is very much appreciated.”
