Jeans for Genes Day fundraiser
NHS Tayside’s genetics department took part in Jeans for Genes day to raise money for Genetic Disorders UK.
The department, which is based at Ninewells Hospital, hosted a coffee morning and wore blue denim to work, raising £42 for the charity.
Genetic Disorders UK provides grants to organisations for projects aimed at transforming the lives of children with genetic disorders.
There are currently more than 6,000 diagnosed disorders and new disorders being identified every day. It is estimated that 1 in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. This means that in the UK, 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed each year and more than half a million children and adults are living with a genetic disorder.
