Exploring print with Neuro Central Auchterarder
Print work created by members of the Tayside Healthcare Art’s Trust (THAT) Visual Arts programme featured an exhibition today (Wednesday) in the outpatient department at St Margaret’s Hospital in Auchterarder.
The print work was created as part of THAT’s visual arts programme for South Perth and Kinross. THAT work to improve wellbeing and social inclusion for people living with mixed long-term conditions through creative engagement.
THAT artist facilitator Alison Robertson and volunteer artist Sarah Draper worked with participants over eight sessions to explore a variety of printmaking techniques in a fun and enjoyable way.
Alison said, “It’s been great getting to know everyone and they worked really hard to produce some lovely work.”
THAT development officer Karine Neill said, “This is a new creative experience for Neuro Central Auchterarder Group and the programme was also open to inpatients too. Alison designed a mindful programme. Everyone enjoyed their experience and explored creative ideas and processes.”
The programme was supported by Friends of St Margaret’s and Neuro Central Auchterarder Group members Heather Wilson and Sheila Doogan.
Heather said, “The group has really shown a sense of engagement and enjoyed socialising, as well as creating some great art work!”
This visual arts project is one of a range of creative engagement programmes for people with mixed long-term conditions currently being delivered by THAT across Perth and Kinross and was supported by The Gannochy Trust, NHS Tayside and THAT. THAT promotes the value of arts-based programmes to enhance quality of life, and to make an important contribution to their health and wellbeing.
