Charity art auction raised £10,000 for THAT!

The fifth annual fundraising art auction held at Discovery Point in Dundee raised money for NHS Tayside’s Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust (THAT).

The charity art auction provided an opportunity for people to own a piece of original art by well-known contemporary artists and up-and-coming artists from across Tayside and North Fife.

Artists were invited to submit A5 postcard art work for the silent auction or if preferred a larger art work to be auctioned on the night. Art enthusiast bid on items and raised an amazing £10,000 which goes towards helping THAT continue to deliver creative arts programmes for people living with long-term health conditions.

THAT development officer Karine Neill said, “This was our fifth auction and this year proved to be as popular as ever. Thank you to everyone who supported and volunteered at the event, all the artists, sponsors and people who attended and helped make it a successful event. A huge thank you to THAT art auction committee members, in particular Chairperson Joan Forsyth whose energy and commitment is the leading force in making this a worthwhile and fun occasion.

“Also I would like to say a special thank you to Steven Dewar from Dundee Auctioneers, Curr & Dewar for being our auctioneer and auctioning off the larger pieces of artwork.”

THAT Chairperson Joan Forsyth said, “We are astonished by the generosity of the artists who have contributed to our fifth charity art auction. The support received from artists and sponsors is tremendous.

“This event helps raise awareness of and funds for THAT which is a charitable trust that works to design and develop creative engagement opportunities for people living with long term health conditions such as stroke, dementia, chronic pain, MS, Parkinson’s disease, and many more who will benefit greatly from this support.”
