COVID-19: New cardiac investigations hub established at Ninewells Hospital
The cardiac physiology department at Ninewells Hospital has created a new cardiac investigations hub to make it easier and safer for patients to access the service at this time.
The new hub has been established on the hospital’s main concourse, in two units next to the main entrance. The former optician and Advice Centre have been redeveloped to allow cardiology staff to perform outpatient investigations such as electrocardiograms and echocardiograms, as well as coordinate and run pacemaker clinics.
The service has moved from its base on level 4 to the new hub on level 7 which has been of real benefit to elderly patients and those who need assistance from portering staff.
Highly specialist cardiac physiologist Rebecca Stanhope said, “Lots of effort and hard work has gone in to getting our hub up and running and the feedback from patients has been absolutely fantastic.
“Many patients have commented on the new location and how this has contributed to a positive experience for them, as coming into hospital for appointments can be a particularly anxious time just now.
“One of our echocardiography patients was so grateful to the staff that he gave each of us a bunch of flowers to say thank you.”
