Chief Executive Grant Archibald said, “NHS Tayside clinicians and managers have been working hard to develop plans for the expected increase in capacity.

“We have been seeking guidance from healthcare settings across the world and as a result we have taken the decision to separate Ninewells Hospital into two distinct areas.

“This has been an incredible effort by all of our staff. Everyone has been working extremely hard to get these plans in place, in what is an already difficult situation.

“In addition to the efforts at Ninewells Hospital, work has been ongoing at Perth Royal Infirmary to ensure it plays a pivotal role in providing the additional capacity necessary to continue to support patients who do not have COVID-19.”
