FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STAR Awards finalists announced
The finalists in NHS Tayside’s Staff Appreciation and Recognition (STAR) Awards 2020 have been announced.
Nominations for the STAR Awards 2020 and the judging process were completed before the pandemic and prior to the Scottish Government’s lockdown restrictions. Judges had received a record breaking number of nominations with over 900 nominations from patients, relatives, members of the public and staff.
The awards offer staff and the public a chance to nominate an individual, service or team for delivering outstanding patient care or going the extra mile in their job. There are also two new Chair Awards chosen by Chair of the Board, Lorna Birse-Stewart.
Mrs Lorna Birse-Stewart, said, “The STAR Awards are an opportunity for staff and the public to show appreciation for the hard work, commitment and dedication of our health and social care staff across Tayside.
“I’m delighted that we can announce the finalists in this year’s awards. However, it is very disappointing that we had no alternative other than to postpone this year’s STAR Awards ceremony.
“It is vitally important that we have the opportunity to celebrate our 2020 finalists, however the wellbeing and safety of our staff, and all those attending, is of the utmost importance and this will be at the forefront of our minds when we are planning the eventual ceremony.
“I look forward to celebrating with our finalists as soon as we can arrange a new date.”
The awards ceremony had been planned for May and was to be held in the Apex Hotel in Dundee.
