Tayside vaccination update
More than 333,000 COVID-19 vaccinations have now been given in Tayside – with almost two thirds of Tayside adults having their first dose and almost a third completing the course with both jabs.
Next phase of programme:
• The next phase of the vaccination programme is now underway with the aim of offering a vaccine to everyone aged 18-49 by the end of July.
• Invites for 40-49 year olds are currently being issued starting with those aged 45-49.
• Invitations for the remainder of the 40-45 year olds will be issued over the next couple of weeks.
• Everyone in this age group should be offered an appointment by the end of May so please don’t worry if you don’t hear straight away.
• Letters will be sent to the address you have registered with your GP practice so it’s really important that your surgery has the correct details for you.
• If you’ve recently moved, or think your details may be out of date with your surgery, please get in touch to update your address.
• If you are unable to attend your appointment, please reschedule for a more suitable date and time. This will ensure that appointments are not wasted and can be offered to other people. There is information in your letter for how to change your appointment through the national booking system.
Second doses update:
• It’s really important that people attend for their second vaccination to ensure they are fully protected.
• Please try to stick to your appointment time wherever possible and only reschedule if you cannot attend on the date given. This will allow our booking teams to focus on scheduling for the next age groups.
• Please do not contact the enquiries line to ask about dates for second doses unless it has been 11 weeks since your first jab.
Priority groups 1-9
• If you are in priority groups 1 to 9, which includes people aged over 50, frontline health and social care workers, care home staff and residents, people who are shielding, unpaid carers and those under 65 with certain health conditions, and have NOT yet received an invite you can complete the missed invitations form at https://invitations.vacs.nhs.scot/
• Those who have been vaccinated should continue to follow FACTS as it will take time to establish the impact of the vaccines on transmission of the virus.
