International recognition for Tayside Vaccination Programme Director

NHS Tayside’s COVID-19 Vaccination Programme Director, Lynne Hamilton, has been recognised at an international award ceremony.

Lynne was a finalist in the ‘Finance Business Leader of the Year’ category of the Engage Europe Finance Awards 2021 in recognition of her work as COVID-19 Vaccination Programme Director.

At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lynne moved from her previous role as Programme Director and Finance Manager in Mental Health to support the set up of the Staff Deployment Centre before moving to Public Health, working first on Test and Protect then as Programme Director for both the extended flu vaccination and COVID-19 vaccination programmes.

Lynne said, “I believe my finance background and the range of other skills I have gathered throughout my career, including in programme planning, contract negotiations, communications and engagement, equality and diversity and risk assessments have all led me to being able to take forward this once in a lifetime opportunity to support the COVID-19 vaccination programme.

“I am extremely humbled to be leading on something of such importance and thankful that my training and finance qualification have allowed me to have this opportunity in my career.”  

Lynne was joined at the virtual award ceremony last week by NHS Tayside Director of Public Health Dr Emma Fletcher and Associate Director of Public Health Dr Daniel Chandler.

Emma said, “On behalf of NHS Tayside and our partners in the vaccination programme, I would like to extend my congratulations to Lynne on this well-deserved recognition. Lynne has demonstrated incredible leadership in rolling out the COVID vaccination programme in Tayside. Her professionalism, enthusiasm, commitment and keen attention to detail have helped to deliver a first class programme to protect the health of everyone in Tayside.”
