Chief Officer for Angus Health and Social Care Partnership announced

Gail Smith has been appointed as the Chief Officer of the Angus Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP).


Gail has held the post of Interim Chief Officer since February 2020. She started her career in Tayside as a nurse, specialising in coronary care, stroke services and elderly care. In February 2016, following the integration of health and social care, she was appointed to the post of Head of Community Health and Care Services for the Angus HSCP.


Welcoming Gail to her permanent position, Emma Jane Wells, Chair of Angus IJB, said, "We are delighted that Gail will now be permanently at the helm of the Angus HSCP. Since taking up the interim post, Gail has successfully led us through the COVID-19 pandemic, keeping the communities of Angus at the forefront of everything she does.”


Chief Executive of NHS Tayside, Grant Archibald said, “Gail is a truly valued member of the health and social care team and has she has spent her career putting patients and communities first.

“Her impressive track record shows she always strives to make a difference for people in Angus and I know she will continue to do so in her new role.”

Angus Council’s Chief Executive Margo Williamson said, “Gail has demonstrated significant leadership and resilience over the past 15 months in the role of Interim Chief Officer.  Her skills, diligence and dedication to the people of Angus is evident in everything she does.”

 

Gail said, "My time as Interim Chief Officer has been challenging. Ensuring the people of Angus receive the best level of care during the COVID-19 pandemic has been something I will not forget. However, it is a challenge I’ve been proud to take on and look forward to driving forward future improvements for the Angus HSCP.

“Taking on the role as Chief Officer, I remain committed to the people of Angus and I will work to ensure they live happier and healthier lives within their communities.”
