Immediate release

Temporary closure of testing venues

The UK Government, which operates the permanent COVID-19 PCR testing venues across Tayside, has advised that sites across Tayside will follow a timetable of one-day closures in November to allow essential upgrades and winter preparation works to take place.

The public are reminded that appointments for PCR tests at these permanent sites should be booked via nhsinform.scot or by calling 119. People should not attend without an appointment.

Anyone who needs to book a test on days when the sites are closed will be offered an appointment at the next nearest available location. Anyone who is unable to travel to another location can order a PCR test to be delivered to their home or may choose to wait one day for their preferred site to reopen.

The testing sites will be closed for one day as follows:

Venue Date closed

Bruce House, Arbroath Thursday, 4 November

Kirkton Community Centre, Dundee Monday, 8 November

Dudhope Castle Car Park, Dundee Tuesday, 9 November

Park Place, Dundee Wednesday 10 November

South Road, Dundee Thursday, 11 November

Thimblerow Car Park, Perth Friday, 19 November

Testing sites are open from 8am until 8pm on a daily basis.

Anyone with symptoms of coronavirus should book a PCR test. Symptoms are a high temperature or fever, a new continuous cough or a loss of, or change in sense of smell or taste.

You should also book a test if:

    • you’ve been asked to get a test by your local council, health protection team or healthcare professional

    • you’ve been asked to get a test to confirm a positive lateral flow device (LFD) test result

    • you’ve had 2 or more void LFD results

    • you’ve been identified as a close contact through Test and Protect or the Protect Scotland app
