New venue for Perth vaccination centre
The Perth Central vaccination centre in St John’s Shopping Centre is moving to a new city centre location in time for the winter COVID and flu vaccination programme.
The new venue, the former Lakeland store on St John Street, will open on Monday 5 September with the last day of vaccinations in the current centre taking place on Sunday 4 September.
Karen Gunn, senior nurse for the vaccination service in Perth & Kinross, said, “We would like to thank everyone who helped set up and run the current centre as well as everyone who came in to see us for their vaccinations over the past eight months. We look forward to welcoming our patients to our new Perth Central clinic for their winter vaccines.”
The first two weeks of the winter programme will focus on care homes, home visits and appointments for health and social care staff across Tayside, before vaccinations begin for the first priority group of the general public. Letters have been issued to those aged over 80 with appointments beginning on 19 September.
The remainder of people in at-risk groups will be invited over the coming weeks, including over 65s, those with certain health conditions, unpaid carers, immunosuppressed households and 50-64-year-olds.
Sunday will also be the last day of drop-ins across Tayside ahead of the winter campaign. Anyone who has not yet had their first or second COVID vaccines or boosters is encouraged to attend this week. Details of drop-ins are at www.vaccinationtayside.scot.nhs.uk or @NHSTayside on social media.
Anyone attending the new Perth Central vaccination centre by car can use any of the nearby car parks in the city centre. Blue Badge parking is available on South Street and there is drop-off access from King Edward Street with Shop Mobility located nearby at Canal Street.
