THAT printing for wellbeing Dundee!

Participants on a wellbeing printmaking programme celebrate their final session by hosting a display of their work at the Hilltown Community Centre.

Over the last eight weeks,Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust (THAT) has been working in partnership with the Coldside Community Empowerment Team to deliver a print making wellbeing programme at the Hilltown Community Centre in Dundee.

The group met on a Wednesday morning and explored monoprint, and a variety of block print making techniques using their own inspiration or looking at nature and natural objects. This final session celebration display is the culmination of their personal achievements.

The programme was delivered by two lead artists, Jude Gove, supported by Suzi Scott and they delivered a variety of print making techniques which have resulted in individuals being able to create their designs on paper, canvas, tote bags and some have embellished with decorative embroidery.

Artist Jude Gove said, “Everyone has been very enthusiastic about trying all the print making techniques and they have produced some really lovely unique work. They are a great group to work with.”

Community officer for Dundee City Council, Elaine Pratt said, “It has been great to see such a positive response to this programme. Everyone has loved taking part in this. All their hard work is really impressive. We hope we can work with THAT again in the future.”

THAT development officer Karin Neill said, “It has been brilliant to watch people grow in confidence and the creative achievements they produced are all very different and really wonderful. It was especially rewarding to hear one participant comment on how much they enjoyed the programme and having dedicated time to create art was so special for them.”
