Diabetic eye screening drop in sessions
People with diabetes in Dundee are being invited to attend new drop-in eye screening sessions.
Diabetic eye screening is offered to people aged 12 and over with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. It involves taking photos of the retinas (backs of your eyes) and examining them for changes. The screening usually takes no more than 30 minutes.
The sessions will take place at The Crescent in Whitfield every Friday in June (2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 June). No appointment is necessary, just drop in from 10am-12.30pm or 1.15-3.15pm.
NHS Tayside diabetic eye screening manager Samantha Creamer said, “We hope that these new drop-in sessions will encourage people to come along and get their diabetic eye screening in a venue that is closer to home.
“This is a new service for our patients, where they can be seen in a local venue and they can decide what time they want to attend. Being in the heart of the community makes it more accessible for everyone. The venue also has disabled parking spaces available and is on a main bus route.
“If anyone has any questions, just get in touch with us on 01382 633956 or email tay.eyescreening@nhs.scot and our team will be happy to help.”
