NHS Tayside STAR Awards 2023 open for nominations

Nominations are now open for the 2023 NHS Tayside STAR Awards which celebrate individuals, teams and services working within NHS Tayside and the health and social care partnerships that deliver outstanding patient care or go the extra mile in their job.

No matter what their job is, any member of NHS Tayside or health and social care partnership staff can be nominated, including medical and nursing staff, therapists, community staff, support staff, social care staff and those who work in the more ‘hidden’ departments who may not deal with patients on a day-to-day basis.

It is quick and easy to nominate your STAR online at www.starawardstayside.scot.nhs.uk and both staff and the public have until 5pm on Friday, 21 July to make their nominations.

NHS Tayside Chief Executive, Professor Grant Archibald said, “These awards allow members of the public to nominate a person or team who they believe has made a difference to them and their family. I know that each and every member of staff in NHS Tayside is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Tayside and I am very proud of them all.”

Members of the public can nominate their NHS Tayside STARs in seven categories.

    1. Clinical Staff Award

    2. Support Staff Award

    3. Top Clinical Team Award

    4. Top Support Team Award

    5. Global Citizenship Award

    6. Young Achiever Award

    7. Unsung Hero Award

There are also two more specialist categories which are open to nominations from NHS Tayside staff. These are the Innovation and Improvement Award, and the Inspiring Educator/Trainer Award.

NHS Tayside Chair Lorna Birse-Stewart added, “We received a record number of nominations last year with over 1000 nominations, which is testament to the high regard that the public have for our staff.

“There have been many very deserving finalists in previous years and I’m sure this year will be no different. The judging panel will undoubtedly have a very difficult job and I am looking forward to this year’s ceremony in September.”

Employee Director, Jenny Alexander said, “Staff can also take the opportunity to nominate a colleague to recognise outstanding performance and I know that peer recognition means a lot. The awards also recognise staff who are not always visible to patients and visitors but who are vital to the smooth running of the organisation.

“Getting nominated is a real boost to morale so I would encourage everyone to nominate their STAR.”
