Veterans First Point recognised for positive mental health impact

Veterans First Point Tayside has been awarded accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists for their work to improve the lives of veterans across the region.

The College's Quality Network for Veterans Mental Health Services (QNVMHS) is awarded to organisations who promote improvement through veterans’ mental health services.

Veterans First Point Tayside has been supporting veterans and their family members across Tayside since 2015. The team comprises of peer support workers, who are veterans themselves, alongside multi-disciplinary clinical staff and a service administrator.

Clinical lead, Dr Michelle Ramage said, "The Veterans First Point team provide an important service to veterans and their families living in the Tayside region and work closely with a range of other health, social care and voluntary sector services.

“Our team is delighted to be accredited by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. This means we are now part of a community of veteran mental health services where we can learn from one another and share best practice.”

NHS Tayside’s Executive Champion for Armed Forces, Susan Paterson, said, “This is an incredible achievement for the team at Veterans First Point Tayside. This award is testament to their hard work and dedication to improve the quality of care for veterans and their families.”
