Children’s Memorial Service in Dundee
Parents and relatives who have lost a child are invited to join a Time of Remembrance on Thursday, 5 December at 7.30pm at the University of Dundee’s Chaplaincy Centre.
The children’s memorial service has been organised by the Spiritual Care department, NHS Tayside’s Maternity & Neonatal Bereavement Support Team, Tayside SANDS, (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity), Alternative Dundee Counselling and Itty Bitty Baby Things for Angel Wings Support Group. The service will include music, readings and the lighting of candles in memory of those who have died.
NHS Tayside Healthcare Chaplain Lainey MacNicol said, “We are coming together as one to hold a loving space to remember our babies and children who have died, whether before or after birth.
"The death of a baby or child is an extremely distressing time and causes great emotional pain for parents, other family members and friends.
“The Children’s Memorial Service is a cherished opportunity to comfort each other in a supportive way, alongside people who have experience similar losses.”
The event is for everyone regardless of faith or belief and many parents who have lost a child return each year to remember their loved one at this time of the year.
