New artwork brings smiles to young dental patients in Dundee

The waiting room at the Paediatric & Orthodontic Dentistry department has undergone a revamp thanks to a local artist.

The team got in touch with Bogusia Misztal to ask if she could use her talents to bring some colour to the waiting area. Bogusia, who is also a Staff Nurse at Ninewells Hospital, jumped at the chance and offered her services for free.

The artwork is primarily dental themed, but also features vibrant images of tropical sea plants, complementing the much-loved fish tank and creating a child-friendly atmosphere.

Bogusia said, “It was so brilliant to work alongside the staff at the Paediatric & Orthodontic dentistry department to make their vision a reality.

“I came up with a few ideas the team seemed really happy with and got to work. I’m so pleased with how it turned out and I’m already getting compliments from people about how great the space looks.”

Wendy Roud, Operations Manager for Dundee Dental Hospital, said “We are extremely grateful to Bogusia for dedicating her time, materials and artistic talent to making our waiting room a more pleasurable place for our patients to be.

“The feedback we have had, especially from children attending the department, has been overwhelming. They say it has made a huge difference to their experience when coming in for dental treatment.”
