Refurbished cardiology ward reopens to patients
Ward 1, the cardiology ward at Ninewells Hospital, has recently undergone essential refurbishment work to improve the environment for staff and patients.
Key upgrades include the installation of a new wireless nurse call system, improved lighting and flooring, extra storage installed, and a fully refurbished nurses’ station designed for better functionality. The ward was also given a fresh coat of paint and new signage.
The work took six weeks to complete and during this time the ward temporarily moved to the Clinical Investigation Unit.
Senior nurse Christine Freel said, “We are absolutely delighted to be back in our newly refurbished cardiology ward.
“This work was essential to continue to provide safe patient care and to improve the overall environment of the ward.
“We now have a brighter, more modern ward that supports both our patients' recovery and the wellbeing of our staff.”
Chief Executive Nicky Connor visited the newly refurbished ward and was impressed with the changes made. She said, “This refurbishment is a significant investment that will benefit the people of Tayside now and into the future.
“Our teams have worked hard to create a welcoming and functional space that will not only enhance the patient experience, but also support our staff in continuing to deliver high quality care.”
