Online pre-assessment launches for surgical patients in Tayside

From Monday 23 June all patients awaiting surgery can fill out their pre-assessment questionnaires online at a time that suits them.

The forms will be issued via MyPreOp, a digital pre-assessment platform that enables patients to fill out a detailed health questionnaire which is required before they attend hospital for their planned surgery.

The information in the form is then reviewed by the pre-assessment clinical team against the patient’s clinical record. For some low-risk patients this may mean they will not require a further in-person appointment.

A patient will receive a text message with a secure link to an online portal where they can complete their questionnaire.

Pre-assessment Clinical Lead, Carol Grey said, “MyPreOp makes the pre-operative assessment process more convenient and accessible for our patients.

“By allowing them to complete their health questionnaires at home and in their own time we can make the process easier and help create a more efficient journey to surgery for everyone.”

If a patient cannot complete their questionnaire online, a member of the pre-assessment nursing team will contact them to complete it by an alternative method.
