Children’s Memorial Service in Perth

A Service of Remembrance is being held for the parents and relatives who have lost a baby before, during or shortly after birth.

The Children’s Memorial Service will take place on Thursday 19 March at 7pm at Letham St Mark’s church in Perth.

The service is a valued opportunity for support and encouragement, where parents and loved ones can remember their children in a safe and supportive way, alongside others who have experienced similar losses.

NHS Tayside Healthcare Chaplain Debbie Jones said, “The death of a child, at any stage, causes a great deal of emotional pain for parents, siblings, grandparents, other family members and friends.

“The event is for everyone regardless of faith or belief and many parents who have lost a child return each year to remember their loved one at this special service. All family members, children and friends are welcome.”

The event will include music, readings and the lighting of candles in memory of those who have passed, and refreshments will be provided after the service.

The service has been organised by NHS Tayside’s Department of Spiritual Care, the Maternity and Neonatal Bereavement Service and Tayside Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, with funding from NHS Tayside Charitable Foundation.

If you are unable to attend, but would like to have your child’s name read out during the service, please send an email to Deborah.jones3@nhs.scot by Wednesday 18 March and we will honour them by lighting a candle for them and reading out their name.
