Get Holiday Ready and Stay Safe this summer with The Corner

Young people across Tayside are being encouraged to get prepared before heading off for summer holidays, festivals and trips abroad as part of a new campaign from The Corner.

Running throughout July and August, the "Get Holiday Ready and Stay Safe" campaign aims to help young people feel confident, informed and supported as they make plans for the summer months.

Supported by NHS Tayside, the campaign is designed to ensure young people know where to access advice and support before, during and after their travels, particularly those who may be travelling independently for the first time. It encourages them to think ahead about their health and wellbeing and make informed choices while away from home.

Jackie Fitzpatrick, senior sexual health nurse at The Corner, said, “We know how exciting it is to head off on holiday, especially if it's your first time travelling without family. Being prepared doesn't have to be complicated, and we're here to help young people feel confident, informed and safe.

“Whether it's contraception, mental health support, advice about staying safe, or simply having someone to talk to, The Corner is a place where young people can access support without judgement.”

The Corner is a health and wellbeing service which provides free, confidential, walk-in support for young people aged 13 to 19 and up to age 26 for those who are vulnerable or require additional support.

Services available include:

• Sexual health advice, contraception, pregnancy testing and STI testing

• Mental health and wellbeing support

• Alcohol and drug information and advice

• Help with relationships, personal safety and decision making

• A friendly, welcoming space to discuss any concerns
