NHS Tayside launches new cancer care online resource

A new NHS Tayside online platform designed to support people affected by cancer is now live.

The cancer care toolkit brings together trusted information, practical advice and support services in one easy-to-access online resource for patients, families and carers.

Whether users are worried about symptoms, waiting for tests, undergoing treatment, living with and beyond cancer, or supporting someone close to them, the resource will help them access the information and support needed.

The toolkit includes:

    • Information about cancer, referral, diagnosis and treatment

    • Guidance on who to contact and when

    • Emotional, practical and financial support

    • Physical activity, rehabilitation and wellbeing resources

    • Information for families and carers

    • Local and national support organisations

    • Advice and resources to help you live well during and beyond cancer

Dr James Cotton, NHS Tayside Medical Director, said, “A cancer diagnosis, investigation or treatment journey can bring many questions for patients or their carers and families. Knowing where to find reliable information and support can make a real difference.

“We’re delighted to launch the Cancer Care Toolkit, which acts as a one-stop-shop where trusted information can be brought together in one place. The toolkit aims to help people affected by cancer find the right support at the right time.

“This is the first phase of development, and we will continue to expand the toolkit with additional local information and resources shaped by feedback from patients, carers and staff.”

The toolkit has been created with the Right Decision Service (RDS), a Once for Scotland digital platform designed to help clinicians, care staff, and the public make safe, consistent, person-centred decisions. It provides validated evidence through web tools, mobile apps and integration with national digital services.
