Relapse Management

For patients with MS experiencing new symptoms or neurological deficits:
  1. Exclude infection
  2. Consider, where relevant, symptomatic management such as neuropathic agents and referral for PT/OT input
  3. In those with a functionally limiting relapse consider steroids: 500mg methylprednisolone once daily for 5 days with PPI cover (e.g. 40mg Omeprazole o.d)
  4. Advise the patient to contact their MS nurse specialist to update.
