Physiotherapy at Whitehills

The physiotherapy department is home to the physiotherapy outpatient service and the community physiotherapy team. It is open from 8.30am-4.30pm Monday - Friday.

The physiotherapy outpatient service has 2.4 full time equivalent physiotherapists and a technical instructor. Currently we accept referrals from GP's and Consultants for assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. Some staff are trained in injection therapy and in the use of acupuncture. We also accept referrals for patients with neurological conditions but these are less frequently referred. Geographically we see patients from the Forfar/Kirriemuir/Letham area.

Our new department has a gym, which is enabling us to develop our service to incorporate classes. We now have the following classes up and running: 2 Knee classes, a shoulder class, a lower limb rehabilitation class and a back rehabilitation class.

The community physio team consists of 31 hours senior I physiotherapist, a full time junior physiotherapist and a full time technical instructor II.

We cover early supported discharge/prevention of admission referrals as well as community rehabilitation and in-patients at WHCCC.

Our remit is South West Angus including Kirriemuir, Forfar, Glens & Newtyle so is quite expansive.

Patients referred mainly have mobility problems including joint replacements, fractures, balance problems and falls.
