Tayside Health Fund Gift Shop Opened

NHS Tayside Chairman Sandy Watson officially opened the refurbished Tayside Health Fund gift shop in Ninewells at a ceremony with Chief Executive Lesley McLay and volunteers who run the shop.

The shop is located in the main concourse at Ninewells and offers a range of gifts, toys, greeting cards, jewellery, ladies scarves and bags, candles and handmade soap. All proceeds from the shop go to the Tayside Health Fund, the registered charity fund for NHS Tayside.

The Tayside Health Fund, launched earlier this year, is the new brand name for the Tayside NHS Board Endowment Fund.

Sandy Watson, NHS Tayside Chairman and Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Fund, said, “I am delighted to be officially opening the Tayside Health Fund Gift Shop.

“The shop is staffed entirely by volunteers, and I’m delighted that some of them have joined us today. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to run this lovely shop and the Tayside Health Fund would miss out on the income the shop generates.

“The Fund makes a big difference to patients and their families across Tayside and that is why we are grateful for every single penny that we receive and for the services of the volunteers.”

Tayside Health Fund is generously funded by donations and legacies from patients, families, carers, the communities of Tayside and other organisations.

Donations to the Fund can be used for many things including buying items for patients that will make their stay in hospital more comfortable, introducing new pioneering ways of delivering care, providing funds for research projects, building new facilities or providing educational and training opportunities for staff.
