The Corner says ‘Know your LGBTs’

The Corner Young People’s Health and Information Service is asking people to ‘Know your LGBTs’ as part of its current health promotion campaign.

During February and March, The Corner will be working in partnership with LGBT Youth Scotland’s local youth group AllSorts Dundee to raise awareness of gender and sexual identity issues to young people, professionals and the wider community.

LGBT refers to people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The campaign aims to highlight that gender and sexual identity can be a changeable process and not everyone fits into one gender or sexual identity.

Young people and volunteer arts workers have worked together to create a window design and resources to be used in drop-in and outreach work to encourage young people to engage with the campaign.

Additional resources and literature will be on display and interactive activities will be on offer in a bid to empower young people to increase their knowledge of the LGBT community and how sexual and gender identity affects everyone.

The Corner offers a wide range of health, information and peer-led services to young people aged between 11 and 25. It provides a safe, welcoming environment where young people can talk confidentially about issues that might be affecting them. The service also provides health and emotional wellbeing support and a range of sexual health services to young people.
