£471 donated to haematology

A Monifieth couple donated £471 to the haematology department at Ninewells Hospital today (Thursday, 12 March) as a thank you to the staff. They also donated £75 to Cancer Research.

Isobel Buchan celebrated her 70^th birthday and asked her friends and family to make a donation rather than give her a gift.

Isobel and her husband Alan wanted to give something back to ward 34 where he received chemotherapy as a day patient a few years ago.

Isobel said, “Everyone was very nice to us when Alan was having his treatment and the room was very relaxing and comfortable.

“We wanted to do something nice for the ward to say thank you for the care Alan received, so when my birthday came round, it was the perfect time to do it.”

Accepting the cheque, senior charge nurse Heather Whatley said, “I would like to thank Isobel and Alan and their friends and family for this generous donation. The money they have donated will go towards patient comfort.”
