Brechin Minor Injury and Illness Unit to close early this weekend

NHS Tayside advises that the Brechin Minor Injury and Illness Unit (MIIU) will be closing at 4.30pm this Saturday (4 July) and Sunday (5 July).

The MIIU, which is usually open between 8am and 10pm seven days a week, is experiencing staffing difficulties due to unplanned staff absence.

The MIIU will return to normal operating hours from 8am on Monday, 6 July.

Patients who require MIIU services can attend any of the other three MIIU in Angus:

• Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar open between 8am and 10pm seven days a week

• Links Health Centre in Montrose open between 8am and 10pm seven days a week

• Arbroath Infirmary open 24/7

Medical Director for NHS Tayside Andrew Russell said, “We would like to apologise for any disruption this may cause.

“It is essential that we provide an MIIU service with appropriately skilled staff which is safe for patients and staff. Due to staffing difficulties, we have had to make the decision to restrict the opening times of the unit this weekend.”
