Donation to wards 10 and 32 at Ninewells

A Dundee patient has donated £1,400 to general surgery ward 10 and the chemotherapy day unit on ward 32 at Ninewells Hospital.

Brian Dunbar raised the money by completing the Templeton 10 road race despite not taking part in it since 1994.

Brian usually helps out at races held by his club Dundee Roadrunners but decided to get back on the road to raise money for Ninewells. He finished the race in 111 minutes this year, slightly slower than his 1994 time of under 75 minutes!

Brian said, “I wanted to raise money for wards 10 and 32 to say thank you for the kind and compassionate care I received and to help future patients. Thanks to the generosity of my family, friends and Dundee Roadrunners, the amount raised exceeded my original target.”

Earlier this year, Brian received treatment for colon cancer in the general surgery ward and chemotherapy day unit.

Accepting the cheque senior charge nurse Alison Inglis said, “On behalf of wards 10 and 32, we would like to thank Brian and his family, friends and Dundee Roadrunners for the generous donation to benefit our service. This is very much appreciated and will help enhance the comfort for our patients.”
