Supporting Anti-Bullying Week 2021

People across Tayside are being reminded of the power of kindness as part of Anti-Bullying Week 2021 (15-19 November)

The theme of the awareness week is One Kind Word, which aims to start a chain reaction of kindness and address bullying behaviour. This year’s campaign theme was co-designed with young people before being adapted by the UK’s leading anti-bullying organisations including Scotland’s anti-bullying service respectme.

NHS Tayside will be sharing messages on social media throughout anti-bullying week and The Corner, a confidential health and wellbeing service for young people aged 11-19, is also supporting the campaign.

The Corner, which is based in Dundee and offers a wide range of services including sexual health, emotional health, counselling and crisis support, will be promoting anti-bullying messages on their social media pages and via outreach workshops throughout the week.

The Corner depute team leader Gary Finlayson said, “Through our work it is clear that bullying is still one of the key issues young people are facing. The Corner will be promoting the One Kind Word campaign throughout the week which aims to explore what bullying and kindness look and sound like, and discuss how positive actions and words can halt hurtful behaviour in its tracks.

“The Corner continues to promote a culture of kindness as part of our service. Our team believes we all have the right to live free from bullying and harassment. By treating each other with respect we can all help prevent it.”
