PRESS RELEASE WITH PHOTO: STAFF, PATIENTS AND VISITORS JOINED SANTA AT THE SWITCH ON OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTS AT NINEWELLS HOSPITAL

Jingle Bells at Ninewells

NHS Tayside staff and patients got into the Christmas spirit today (Thursday, 7 December) as Santa Claus visited Ninewells Hospital.

This year we were delighted to welcome Santa to switch on our Christmas tree lights at the hospital. Santa was assisted with the very important task of switching on the Christmas tree lights by children from the Tayside Children’s Hospital.

Festivities then kicked off with Santa encouraging those gathered round the tree to take part in some traditional carol singing. Santa then spent time speaking to staff, patients and visitors on the concourse assuring them that they were all on his ‘nice list’ before heading to Tayside Children’s Hospital.

The children and staff in wards 29 and 30 were thrilled that despite it being a very busy time of year, Santa was able to leave the North Pole and visit the hospital and hand out gifts to the children and young people. Santa’s cheerful ‘Ho Ho Ho’ brought a happy smile to the faces of both patients and staff alike.

NHS Tayside Lead Nurse for Children and Young Peoples Services, Sarah McLauchlan, said, “On behalf of all the patients and staff in the Tayside Children’s Hospital, I would like to say how delighted we all were that Santa Claus was able to visit.

“Santa’s visit brought some real festive joy to the children in hospital and to our staff.”
