Tayonline, a creative writing group for people with long-term health conditions, shared what they have been working on during a celebration at the Weston Studio in the V&A Dundee.

Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust (THAT) Tayonline met to share their creative writing pieces as part of the final session of their eight-week spring programme. The programme, which is delivered online, provides people in Tayside living with long-term conditions the opportunity to take part in creative writing.

Author Sandra Ireland worked with participants to explore various themes through on the spot writing tasks, providing inspiration through visual and written prompts. Sandra encouraged the group to explore developing narrative, character writing and to enjoy sharing their own written work through reading together.

Sandra said, “I am delighted by the group’s enthusiasm and the quality of work they produced. They have developed their character writing during this programme and it’s been a delight to see their skills grow in confidence and ability each week.”

THAT development officer, Karine Neill said, “Tayonline has a positive impact on our participants. Through this regular contact there is a great sense of community, which helps with their confidence and helps to reduce social isolation.”
