Making a referral to the Tayside Adult Acquired Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) Service

If you have a communication difficulty then you can self refer to the speech and language therapy service by contacting your local department in our Contact Adult Acquired Speech and Language Therapy section or contact your health or social care professional and ask them to make the referral.

If you are experiencing difficulties with your voice, you need to be seen by an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) doctor before you can be referred to SLT. Please contact your GP to make this referral on your behalf.

If you have difficulty swallowing then we prefer if the referral is made in writing by a health care professional e.g. GP, Dietitian, Nurse. They can either complete our referral form or send a letter detailing the reason for the referral and any relevant medical history.

To check if a referral to SLT is appropriate or for any other information please contact your local SLT department.
