Hearing Aid Repair and Maintenance

The Tayside Audiology and Balance Service (TABS) aim for all hearing aids to be maintained well. We suggest patients have their hearing aids serviced approximately every six months.

Self care of hearing aids can easily be carried out at home. You can follow the simple troubleshooting steps provided below.

If your hearing aid is not working well or are unable to carry out maintenance at home, please contact the department for a hearing aid repair appointment.

Please be aware that no adjustments to your hearing aid can be made at this appointment. If adjustments are needed, a further appointment with an Audiologist will be required.

We are happy to be working closely with NHS Tayside volunteers who provide drop-in re-tubing of ear moulds. At present all volunteer drop-in hearing aid maintenance clinics have been suspended due COVID-19. You may still be able to collect hearing aid batteries at locations near you.
