Patients and visitors frequently ask the following questions. Here you will find some of the most common.

Visiting

  • We operating an 'Open Visiting hours' policy.
  • Within reason, visitors are welcome throughout the day.
  • However, we discourage visiting during mealtimes unless prior arrangements made.
  • It is also helpful if visitors avoid attending during the daily ward rounds (9.00 - 11.00).
  • We would advise no more than 2 - 3 visitors at the bedside at any one time.

Meal times

  • Breakfast 8.15 - 9.00
  • Lunch 13.00 - 13.45
  • Dinner 17.45 - 18.30

Keeping Connected

  • Mobile phones can be used. Please respect the circumstances of patients nearby.
  • Computers and tablets can be used.
  • In-patient WiFi is available.

Why can tests take so long to happen?

  • If you require special tests in other departments (eg x-ray or endoscopy) we will try to have these done as quickly as possible.
  • However, on occasion there may be emergency cases which take priority and this can cause delay.
  • Please be patient.

What if a patient has urgent business outside the hospital?

We understand that circumstances can arise whilst you are in hospital that may require you to leave for a short time to attend to.
Please discuss with your Medical and Nursing team and we can help.
