Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services

The key improvements in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services are:
  • From Sept 2019 we have commissioned an independent service called Healios. Healios is a team of highly-experienced and qualified Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service clinicians who deliver appointments with children and their parents or guardian via a secure, video-based channel called a clinical portal
  • From December 2019, we are working in partnership with a Dundee GP cluster to test a model where a Senior Nurse from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service will attend the practice and triage the referrals from the cluster The aim of the Test of Change is to improve the patients journey so they are either placed on the appropriate Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Pathway or signposted to appropriate services
  • Establishment of a further three Team Leader posts for each area of the service since October 2019
  • Recruitment of additional nursing and psychological staffing since 2019 using both Taskforce and Access monies
  • Use Taskforce monies to enhance Business System data
  • Appointment of an Improvement Lead to manage the planned service improvement projects prioritized for the service in December 2019
  • From August 2019, Increased discharge age to 18 years for all patients currently within service with a staged plan under development to increase the service for all who require it to 18 years
  • Adoption of the "Near Me" technology to improve patient access and reduce travel time for patients
