History of the Department

Andrew Lenman founded the department of Neurology when he was appointed in 1960 as Senior Lecturer (later Reader) in the Medical School and Consultant Neurologist to the Dundee General Hospitals. For many years, he ran neurology services throughout Tayside single-handed.

By 1993, the department had expanded to three consultants and had office, secretarial and research accommodation distributed over four different locations in Dundee Royal Infirmary. The department moved to a single site (ward 10) around this time.

In 1998, the department then moved to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and is now based in ward 23A.
