Anaemia
Anaemia is a common complication experienced by patients who have kidney disease. Laura Thomson is our Renal Anaemia Specialist Nurse within Tayside who looks after our patients who require treatment for anaemia.
There are two ways of treating anaemia. These are with Erythropoiesis Stimulating Agents (ESA) and iron. We may also treat anaemia with a blood transfusion however this would only be given in extreme cases.
Patients who require treatment will be sent an appointment to attend the Renal Anaemia Clinic in one of our various sites around Tayside and will remain under routine regular care by our Anaemia Specialist Nurse.
