The Team

Our experienced and friendly team of nurses, specialist nurses, children’s doctors, therapists, healthcare assistants and other staff provide safe and effective care to our young patients and their families.

During your visit you will meet a number of different staff who will help care for your child. All staff can be identified clearly from their uniform name badge or lanyard. Some staff wear a specific uniform making them easy to identify. 

Ward Clerk

When you arrive to the unit our ward clerk is one of the first members of staff you will meet. They will make you welcome and show you where to go.

From admission to discharge the nursing, healthcare staff and sometimes student nurses will accompany you on your journey, providing support and reassurance throughout.

Will support and help prepare you for procedures using play

Ward Doctor

Will carry out a brief examination to ensure you are fit for surgery.

Anaesthetist

You will meet your anaesthetist on the day of your surgery (if surgery is required). They will have a chat about different anaesthetic medicines and ways of going to sleep. They will also discuss how we will help prevent pain post surgery.
