Making a Referral - Information for referring agencies

Information for referring agencies.
The V1P model is a combination of mental health professionals and veterans with personal experience of UK military life, working in partnership with local veteran agencies and organisations.

Veterans First Point Tayside service builds on existing services and partnerships to:-
  • Develope sustainable packages of support, and, when appropriate, healthcare which focus on veterans and their families;
  • Provide a single point of access in each of the three locales across Tayside, thus facilitating the support of veterans with a range of welfare issues;
  • Deliver welfare support by Peer Support Workers, acting as cultural peers;
  • Facilitate access to NHS care and treatment, in particular to existing mental health services, both generic and specialist;
  • Following clinical assessment, use a brokerage model to facilitate the appropriate psychological treatment of veterans who have been unable to access it through routine processes, for example, the provision of CMHT input;
  • Deliver treatment, including psychotherapy to those veterans who are unable to access it through routine processes.  This includes the development of care pathways for both combat and non-cobat related difficulties;
  • Provide welfare and social support to those in receipt of treatment, to promote their recovery and to assist them in maintaining their own well-being;
  • V1P Tayside service is available to veterans (UK military) and their family.
