ALISS (A Local Information System for Scotland)

Who We Are:

The ALISS (A Local Information System for Scotland) programme is funded by the Scottish government and delivered by the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE). It is co-produced with people and professionals in Scotland’s communities.

The programme aims to assist clinicians, and people across Scotland, access the information needed to help people live well and address issues in the community. It acts as an online directory to a wide variety of third sector groups in Scotland which offer health and wellbeing related services, and makes linking a patient with appropriate local groups much easier for clinicians.

Who to Refer:

ALISS offers information and links to numerous Tayside based groups which address issues such as:

• Health conditions
• Physical activity
• Covid 19
• Food and nutrition
• Financial advice
• Housing and homelessness
• Sexual health
• Rights and representation
• Education and employability
• Children and families

Who Not to Refer:

ALISS does not offer links to any secondary or acute care settings. It is a database of local, third sector groups linked on RefGuide as it functions as a useful, quickly accessible primary care management directory.

How to Refer:

Patients can be referred via ALISS by navigating to the site and clicking on the “Search” tab.

Enter the local area or post code of the patient and a database of groups nearby will be generated. Navigate the filter fields to narrow the search to the most appropriate group for the patient. Results can be filtered by:

• Category of the service offered
• Whether the service is operated locally or nationally
• Distance from the patient
• Keyword(s)

The site displays a brief description of the service offered, a link to the site and contact information which can be used to refer the patient onward.

Please note that ALISS is accessible to everyone across Scotland, including patients and carers. As such, patients do have the option to explore the groups available online, and can self-refer.
