Speciality Description 

  • Public Protection encompasses Child Protection (CP), Adult Support and Protection (ASP), Gender Based Violence (GBV) and Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).
  • NHS Tayside’s Public Protection Service is committed to making sure that systems and processes are in place across the organisation to protect children (including unborn babies), young people, and adults at risk of harm.
  • Staff are supported in their child and adult protection roles through the provision of related policies and guidance and access to advice, support, supervision, and training.
 
  • General Practitioners and GP practices can access guidance and information from the Child and Adult Protection Teams if they are concerned regarding the protection of a child, young person, or adult at risk of harm.

Please note that the primary role of the Adult and Child Protection Teams are advisory in nature. HSCPs remain the lead agency and must still be contacted to make a referral, initially by telephone and where requested followed up in writing.
