The links contained in this section aim to provide advice and support for children/ young people (and their families) who have sustained a brain injury. This may be due to an accident or because of an infection or illness which impacts on brain development. Brain injuries can occur at any age but the impact may be felt more or in different ways months or years post injury. These links provide information which may be helpful in understanding how a brain injury can impact on the various “jobs” our brain can do (thinking/ learning skills, managing emotions and behaviours and movement skills).
There are links which provide helpful advice on how to manage common challenges faced by children and young people who have sustained a brain injury including living with fatigue, cognitive challenges and how to manage the emotional impact of adjusting to a brain injury.
