What if I think my child might be neurodivergent?

The primary aim of CAMHS is to support children and young people whose mental health needs are the main presenting concern, and where these needs are:
• Severe, complex or high risk, and/or
• Having a significant and sustained impact on day-to-day functioning.

Whilst CAMHS recognises the importance of identifying neurodevelopmental differences, ND assessment and diagnosis within CAMHS will be offered selectively, and only where it is clinically indicated in relation to the child or young person’s mental health presentation. Though this may not lead to a diagnosis. Universal screening for neurodevelopmental differences will no longer be offered in CAMHS.
